UPDATE 1-Edenred shares sag as investor sells 8 pct stake

PARIS, July 20 (Reuters) - Shares in French vouchers and prepaid cards group Edenred fell by 5 percent early on Wednesday as a U.S. investor was offloading an 8 percent stake in the company. "We have been informed of a placing involving 8 percent of the capital," a group spokeswoman said. Barclays Capital was doing the placing on behalf of Southeastern Asset Management in a range of 20.30 euros to 20.60 euros, traders said. French holding company Eurazeo and U.S. real estate group Colony Capital are the main Edenred shareholders, with a combined stake of 27.36 percent. Edenred competes with catering services companies Sodexo and Compass Group, as well as credit card networks MasterCard and Visa.
