Card payment solutions firm Wright Express Corp has changed the name of the company to WEX, an alteration it says will help to promote and develop its reputation as an international provider. The company, which began as a fleet car operator in the early 1980s, says that it will continue to trade under the WXS symbol on the New York Stock Exchange. The company first went public in 2005.
The company operates through several subsidiaries including WEX Bank, Fleet One, Pacific Pride, Wright WExpress Prepaid Cards Australia and Fuel Cards Australia. The company employs more than 1,300 people through it and its subsidiaries. It provides services to more than 350,000 customers, who in turn cater for over 6 million card holders.
It added that the new name reflects its growth and strategy aims, which includes providing corporate card solutions.
